Everything begins with an idea. A conversation, a doubt, a form seen in a dream. From there comes the drawing, then the model, then the matter. We are a studio of ideas — different people with different instruments producing one unified result.

The process always starts from the idea. The workshop is the consequence, not the starting point. Four moments move through the studio before becoming an object: a question, a drawing, matter, a signature.

UNDES is a studio of ideas. We develop intuitions across every space and field, without starting from a predefined category.
The workshop is not the identity: it is a possibility. The place where ingenuity, when needed, meets matter and forces it to become form.

UNDES does not work like a department. It works like a band: different people, different instruments, different timings, one direction.
Every idea enters the studio and passes through different sensibilities: vision, planning, technique, narrative. The final form never belongs to one person alone: it is the result of an agreement.

We do not start from a machine. We do not start from a material. We start from a question: what could exist, if we took it seriously?

The UNDES process is a transformation: an intuition enters the studio, is discussed, drawn, questioned, until it finds a possible form.
It is not a technical sequence to execute. It is a way of giving body to ingenuity. The workshop comes later: not to command the idea, but to verify it, correct it and give it body.
This is the point: we develop ideas across every space and field. The final form can change. The principle remains the same.

Every project begins with a question.
Not “what can we produce?”, but “which idea deserves to take shape?”. It is the point where ingenuity lights up: a tension, a desire, a problem still without a figure.

The idea becomes a trace.
Sketches, proportions, tests, notes. Drawing is not used to decorate the idea: it is used to understand it. To remove what does not hold. To leave only what can become true.

Matter arrives when the idea is ready.
The workshop enters later, as a natural consequence. It is not the starting point: it is the place where an intuition is verified, corrected, made concrete.

Hands arrive after thought.
We have a workshop because some ideas are not enough on paper. They need to be built, measured, corrected. Working with matter allows us not to leave the idea in the field of imagination.
But the identity of UNDES is not the machine. It is the passage: from intuition to form, from thought to body, from ingenuity to presence.
An idea is not produced.
It is listened to, drawn, put to the test.

Roots are not nostalgia. They are the point from which we observe things. UNDES comes from a place where ingenuity has always been practical: it is not declared, it is put to work.
Here, an idea must pass through hands, relationships and measure. This is why our way of developing ideas remains connected to a precise place, even when the idea can go anywhere.

We write the story without inventing it.
UNDES was born from the evolution of a manufacturing company founded in the early 1980s in the heart of Emilia.
For over forty years, that experience lived through the daily work of the workshop: precision, sacrifice, manual skill and technical knowledge passed on over time. A family company built around mechanical production, with a craft-based and deeply human approach.
From that history came a new awareness: in an increasingly competitive and standardized market, driven by price and replicability, remaining only a turning workshop was no longer enough.
The turning point came during the pandemic, when the need to redefine the future of the company became impossible to ignore. Not simply to save a production structure, but to transform it into something new.
UNDES took shape this way: not as a cancellation of the past, but as its natural evolution. Production stopped being the center of the project and became a tool serving a broader idea: design.
Today UNDES is a hybrid space between creative studio and industrial workshop, where engineering, prototyping, design and matter meet to transform concepts into concrete solutions.

The language that remains.
Dialect is not folklore. It is a form of precision: few words, many nuances. Here, the Reggiano vocabulary becomes searchable: a small cultural infrastructure inside UNDES.

We integrated the original vocabulary into a light, immediate search: type a Reggiano, Italian, or common English word and the site returns the most relevant pages.
The dictionary keeps its nature as a historical source: we do not rewrite it, force-normalize it, or invent translations. We make it reachable, readable, alive.
